Complicated feeling...

Today is Sunday but not a sunny day. It is raining - cats and dogs.

My mum is sitting next to me and listening to radio with me. Well, the programme is about Kelly Chan's wedding.

She is looking at what I am doing but she does not know what I am doing actually. She knows 26 alphabets and some very simple words.

The feeling is complicated. My mum is old but of course lovely. These years she begins to forget things. I know it is the side-effect of getting old. It is sad to realize that. Every time when she pushes me to find a partner. My heart is broken. It is not because I feel embarrassed. I will try to avoid the topic but I know she wants to see all of us to be married. It was also the will of my dad but he would never see now. I want to satisfy them but I cannot at the moment. I can behave myself to be a good son except that. I can study hard and work hard but love is something I really cannot control. Fate does not come, what can I do? I know time flies I need to catch time. God, is it something going wrong?

Recently I have tried to organize my photos. When I see the albums, they recall the days and the memories - more than 10 years ago. We were 20's but many of the friends are parents of kids already. I know the days will never come again. I am now trying to scan all the photos and burn in DVDs. I will treasure every moment it came into my life.

Job is one of the things it always makes me puzzled. It seems it is never stable. It also seems it is never what I want. I am working hard everyday but it never turns out what I want. Maybe it is what IT is. I am just a small potato (even though I have been here for more than 10 years). People are result-oriented. You cannot success you fail. I asked myself thousands of times - what else can I do?

Well... that's life.

八月是一個帶喜又帶悲的一個月，期間英雄和天使都出現了。
北京奧林匹克運動會，健兒們都是英雄，國家隊更是中國英雄。不論得獎與否，你們都很用心去付出過，已經很值得我們敬佩。劉翔退出，有人責罵他，但我很不認同，他確實付出過，他已經是個很了不起的英雄，而且運動員也是人，難道要人家受傷後再賠上生命嗎？你、我有什麼權？賭徒們更加沒有權，奧林匹克運動會是健兒們的運動會，不是你們的賭場。你們都是中國的英雄。
在香港，大家都著眼在北京奧林匹克運動會時，兩位天使出現了。你們在旺角嘉禾大廈火警中不幸殉職，消防隊目蕭永方及消防員陳兆龍，你們是天使。你們是上天派來的天使，叫我們反省我們是多麼幸福和生命的意義。願主祝福接納你們，賜福和保守你們的家人。

Book Fair 2008!

Wow... Today is very hot - 36 C. Where is the best place to kill time in such hot weather? Yes, book fair! It is not a bad idea although it is not a very cool place and it is very crowd indeed. :)

I was an Oxfam volunteer today. The shift started from 10am to 5pm. It was not that crowd this morning but many and many people come after lunch. Most of time, we were not busy. We needed to sell books and handcrafts. Hmm... no fundraising is allowed but the business is not bad.

After that, I spent 2 hours to hang around. I did not buy any books. Why? I got too many books at home. Now I feel tired, I stood a few hours, but I still quite enjoy it.

Post Support Work of Earthquake in China

It is sad to see all those scenes. What we can do so far is to donate some monies in fund raising events. In these few days, I keep asking myself - Apart from donation, what else can we do?

I am a software developer. I come out an idea. Those victims lost their families. Some relatives may be died. In lucky cases, some relatives may be still alive. However, under the circumstances, they most likely lose the connection. They may not be able to find each other. I am thinking if it is possible to build a people finder website that allows those people to post their general information (such as name, photos and location) and/or the people they want to find. It also allows seekers to do search and match. The application would be as simple as possible. If the villagers do not know how to use computers or the application, they can ask help from others like nurses, doctors, friends, etc. Such that the application can work as a central repository to keep track the people who are finding their relatives and/or the death people information.

You may say I am a dreamer but I am not the only one. Besides of donation, I hope any other people like me can give a helping hand to the victims too. I believe we can build such application but we need a web hosting service with huge storage that can hold a database system and hundreds of thousands of photos as well as some advertisement services that can deliver our message to China. If you have the same heart, let's make it possible.

實在是一幕又一幕令人心寒和痛心的畫面,主啊,祢是否正在保守祢的兒女?祢不難過嗎?
香港實在是褔地,我們沒有嚴重的災禍。當很多人在說人工增長得很少時,有否想過用這些小小的金錢去幫助我們國內同胞?當有些人他們的人工增長得很多時,有否想過用有餘的金錢去幫助我們內同胞?朋友,施比受更有褔,只要你願意,一點一滴也可以幫助到他們,而且我相信會有很多人向你說多謝!

Earthquake in China

It is very sad to see the horrible scenes in different media. God, are you watching them from a distance? What is going wrong? Why does it happen? Broken houses can be rebuilt, cracked roads can be reconstructed, money can be earned again, as long as they are alive and have time they can start all kind of things from scratch. But lives cannot come back again once they have gone. The broken hearts and wounds will never be recovered. God, do you still love them? Do you really accompany with them? Where are you?

We are really lucky we live in Hongkong. We rarely have disasters like that; at most we have typhoon, black rainstorm or landslip. While many people have salary adjustment, especially those government servants who always yell loudly their adjustment too little (don't you know yours are much better than most of people in Hongkong? -- I know the servants will not like me), will you consider to donate the increment or at least a portion of that to our brothers and sisters (victims) in China? If you think you only have small adjustment, it may mean that money will not help or improve your living standard much, why not donate it? If you think you have big adjustment, it may mean while it keeps or improves your living standard you can still afford to donate part of that. I know I cannot convince or enforce you to do what you are not willing to do. But if you do, I believe you can help some people and many people will say "Thank you" from their hearts.

九唔搭八

雖然全城支持北京奧運是一件好事，香港是其中一個協辦城市，奧運聖火可以在香港傳遞，身為香港人也很興奮，但當看到火炬手名單，心裡不禁罵了一句。奇怪是為何火炬手名單裡有這麼多無謂人？贊助商可以任意選擇他們喜歡的人，更不知所謂是無關痛癢的一些商家、議員、藝人、華裔小姐等都有份，反而運動員如車菊紅等無份！奧運不是運動會嗎？火炬手不應是運動員嗎？就算是有權勢的人可以話事，但也應運動員是佔大多數罷！

大家的反思 -> 民主派的反思

民主派是由一些所謂知識份子所組成，他們常常聲稱他們所做的所謂"民主行為"是因為愛國，可是他們所做的本人實在不敢認同。當不知所謂的CNN公然傷害中國人民，國家尊嚴受辱時，當奧運聖火在各國傳送時被人惡意破壞時，當各國華人對以上種種作出有理性的反擊時，民主派的所謂知識份子在那裏？Where are they？They are HERE!他們在準備如何在奧運聖火傳送時遊行，如何結盟外國人士來抗議中國民主。本人絕對認同有理性的民主行為，我們這一代中年，無不對六四痛心，但請大家想想，奧運會本身的意義在那裏？它是為著各國友誼而成的一個運動會，目標只有一個，就是體育精神，沒有什麼政治因數。這些所謂知識份子，既然有學識，為何不明白這簡單的道理？這些人已經本末倒置了！再者，當大家實實在在說民主時，吾爾開希、王丹、柴玲等人在那裏？像吾爾開希吃得滿肚腸肥，還是在六四紀念日當天凌晨還在台北市某家夜店「泡妞」嗎？放下他們所謂的"民主"爛攤子一走了之。本人實在對民主派失去信心！國家興衰歷年來都是受到內憂外患影響。而且正當大家大仁大義說愛國說民主時，請大家實際一點，實實在在去反思，在香港有多於一百萬人的貧窮故事，誰來關心他們，誰來愛他們？大家為他們作過什麼？

離開是另一個開始

終於別了工作五年的地方，一個曾經帶給我歡樂和失望的地方。在這裡我認識了一些朋友，工作伙伴，當中有好人有壞人。好的我會記著，多謝你們，不好的我會忘記，也會多謝你們給我看清世途險惡。
多謝大頭送的叮噹砌圖，多謝高材生的豐富晚餐，多謝死仔包的晚餐，多謝爸爸幫手買cakes，當然也多謝同事的farewell lunch。
沒有工作做的日子，除了找新工，就是休息、上網、看書和看電視。唔知有沒有機會去上海探Mandy兩公婆呢？
但願快些找到一份適合自己的安穩工作！God Bless！

別了沈殿霞小姐

求主接納肥姐到天家去...
其實自己對肥肥沒有甚麼好感，覺得她常常罵人，有點霸道。
但是無可否認，她確實很專業，我們這一代電視撈飯長大的，無一不知誰是開心果肥肥。而且她很有義氣、對朋和友家人也很好，對欣宜是一個很了不起的媽媽，對媽媽是一個很孝順的女兒。
雖然我對欣宜也沒有甚麼好感，覺得她有點像壞孩子，但她也很孝順媽媽，希望她可以從傷痛中走出來，好好活下去，做個有用的人，活出她的風采。同時也要大家給予欣宜空間，多點支持，小點無理批評。人家如果真的做得好，何不稱讚鼓勵一句？
